This change is not being received well at all. I just got a call from Ohio SM Scott Yonnally N8SY and he thinks it is sheer lunacy. There are many members who are choose not to use the Internet, so the argument about removing the addresses from QST and having the member look it up on the web page, simply fails. I realize that Directors are not supposed to get involved in the day-to-day operation of QST, /_BUT_/ I strongly urge that the complete Section Manager contact information remains on page 16 as it has been for recent memory. 73, Dale WA8EFK On 12/13/2017 4:41 PM, Kermit Carlson via arrl-odv wrote:
Hello -
While I am encouraged by the recent publication changes to QST, I would urge caution in raising rankor with our SM's.
The street address is probably no longer needed as long as the email address is listed since nobody actually posts a "snail mail" response in this day and age. Besides that address information is available online.
Although the pulp for the page #16 information does come at a cost, the elimination of the telephone number is a change I suggest will not be welcome by the Section Managers and it might make sense to keep that available in QST.
Would it be possible not to eliminate the phone number listings for SMs ?
Thank You

QST Managing Editor Becky Schoenfeld has asked me to forward this on to ODV. Thanks and 73 Dan Henderson, N1ND Assistant Secretary – American Radio Relay League, Inc. Text is below. Becky In an effort to continue to streamline the print edition of /QST /and to drive members to digital resources that are more efficient to access and maintain, we will be making changes to page 16 of /QST/, which lists the Section Managers by Division. Given that almost all communications by members to ARRL representatives is electronic, the postal mailing addresses and telephone numbers of the Section Managers will no longer appear on page 16. We will run only the Section Manager’s name, call sign, and arrl.org e-mail address. Postal mailing addresses and telephone numbers will still be available through the Section Manager listings on the ARRL website, at www.arrl.org/sections <http://www.arrl.org/sections>. This web URL will appear on page 16 of /QST./ These changes will be implemented with the February 2018 issue of /QST./ _______________________________________________ arrl-odv mailing list arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org <mailto:arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> https://reflector.arrl.org/mailman/listinfo/arrl-odv
