In re BPL

During the past few weeks I’ve visited several club meetings and, of course, a prime topic was BPL.  I’ve been pleased to tell them I thought that thanks to our HQ effort, BPL in its “electronically-dirty” version is dieing slowly-but-surely.  I’m even more pleased to have sensed a considerable degree of sophistication among members who have begun to realize we aren’t anti-BPL technology, but are strongly anti-interference caused by lousy (lousy = technical term) execution of the technology.

Kudos to Dave and crew!

Subject: [arrl-odv:13197] ARRL complaint re BPL database

After coordination with Chris I have just FAXed the attached complaint to Bruce Franca, cc to Bill Moroney of UTC, concerning the BPL database that was announced yesterday by FCC Public Notice.

By the way, because of the Motorola Powerline LV system now in operation at W1AW, we are a "BPL operator" so we have requested a user name and password for administrative access to the database. It will be interesting to see what UTC's reaction is.
