This is wonderful news! The Donor Dinner was an excellent event, and all speeches were very informative and motivational. I'm glad they resonated so well. With all the major donations to amateur radio in the last year, I'm sure the spirit of Mary Hobart is shining and smiling down on us. Although I'm unfamiliar with Harrison Radio, those of us "of the age" remember Allied and Lafayette. When we planned a project, we ordered parts from Allied, and when they came a month later, we started our project. My first ham receiver was a Lafayette HA-350, given to me by my uncle, who was a one-year novice who never continued in amateur radio. Congratulations to all. I hope this is the proverbial "tip of the iceberg" with future donations. Dr. Ed Snyder, W1YSM, and his wife Rose joined us in the Executive Conference room for a ceremony where they have donated an additional $150,000 to ARRL. These funds will be added to the existing $100,000 already donated in support of our Collegiate Initiative. The combined $250,000 will, at the discretion of management, be used as an endowment to support the Collegiate Initiative or Clubs each year. Dr. Snyder is President of the Meriden Amateur Radio Club. Dr. Snyder expressed his support of creating the Manager of Field Services position, his respect and affection for Mike Walters, and discussed my Donors Reception speech as the meaning and legacy themes resonate very strongly with him. These gifts are in part to celebrate the lives of his father and uncle, both of whom were deeply involved in the retail side of amateur radio at Allied, Lafayette, and Harrison Radio. We will be posting a news story on this next week. Thanks. David
