What a great day! We ended up with a full 7 hours today of VOTA operating on 10M SSB in the Technician portion of 10 meters, with a never ending pile-up that lasted  all day. We ended up with 557 casual contacts before the band folded for us, with at least two where we were their first ever HF contact using skywave propagation! For several others we were their first ever OR contact for WAS. We also got K0AIZ, N2ZZ, and K5UZ in the log today, along with several SMs and ASMs.  (Nothing heard from KB7HDX though! ;-)

I got a bit rummy before the end of the day as I was also the night op for the CQ WPX RTTY test we are running simultaneously from the primary operating position. I failed to recognize "K5UZ" when he answered my CQ. Sorry Mr. Norris!

Tomorrow is another VOTA day, but I need to get through another night on the RTTY station first...

Had a sustained rate of 108 per hour this afternoon on 10 meters SSB. And that included short BS sessions and sending them down the band to work the weak guy from Oregon! ( W7VO)
HA HA.

It's really humbling to have the pile thank us for our service, when in reality, it's them that need the thanks. Without all the members we would have nothing to do.

Sounds like a challenge to all….

We have a lot of points and a lot of goodwill within this group to provide to the amateur community.  I hope everyone contributes at least an hour or two for operating this weekend.

Only one ham asked me what VOTA was while operating today.  Fortunately, he was a VK.

As far as W1AW/x stations, this week is Hawaii and Georgia.  W1AW/KH6 is everywhere.  W1AW/4 in Georgia, a state literally 20 miles away from me-crickets.  I worked one slow speed CW op but haven’t seen much activity otherwise.

Let’s get on the air!

The team at W7VO will be "on the air" using SSB in the General and Technician portions of the bands the entire weekend handing out lots of points for VOTA, while signing WM7A for the CQ WPX RTTY contest.

Lets all get out there this weekend and hand out some valuable VOTA points.  We'll certainly all be easier to work than Bovet!  ;-)
