Scott,

We all have our own stories, but I have been a regular at each of the Dayton Hamventions yearly since 1994, with the exception of those cancelled by the pandemic.  Our group stayed at the Crowne Plaza for many years, but we had such terrible service several years ago that we switched to the Marriott.

Like Hara Arena, I’m sorry to see it go (some great memories), but I didn’t see any improvement in sight.

Subject: [arrl-odv:34208] Sad news from Dayton Ohio...

For those of you that have attended the Dayton Hamvention in the past will want to know that the Crown Plaza Hotel in downtown Dayton is closing at the end of this week.

It seems that there just hasn’t been enough business for them to stay open any longer. I guess COVID-19 got another one.  I know that over the years there have been many great memories of banquets and bashes held there.  Like Hara Arena, they will now just have to live in our memories only.

Sorry to be the one to bring this bad news to you.

73,

Scott…
