Dick,
Here is a copy of an email I sent Bernie this morning.
I’ve received a few emails already that were obviously generated
by Bernie’s newsletter. I’ve just simply responded, copying the
Director, and them the League has always sought to employee competent, high
quality people with expertise in the area which the vacancy exists.

Bernie,
This is a personal note
to you with your Director, Vice Director and Officers copied. It is not for
publication or distribution.
As Mr. Edgar has stated,
Mr. Mills resigned. The circumstance surrounding his voluntary resignation is a
confidential employer/employee matter and will not be disclosed publicly.
However, you should
understand his decision to resign in no way impacts the League's support of
DXCC, LoTW, or any of the programs currently overseen by the Membership
Services Dept. ARRL will continue to support LoTW and DXCC.
I have been on the ARRL
Board for 20 years now. During that time we have had three Membership Services
Managers employed that subsequently resigned. Each time a resignation occurred
we had very good high profile people in the position and the resignation always
generates questions and concerns from the DX community about the League's
future support of DX activities even though the job involves much more than
that.
I can assure you ARRL
will seek to identify and employee an individual of high standard, just as we
always have, to fill the vacancy of Membership Services Manager.
The ARRL Board and staff fully supports LoTW, DXCC and the
contesting community and any suggestion that it does
not, or that this specific situation will result in the demise of these
programs is just pure rubbish. They are just that...blatant false rumors!
Agitating an employee
situation in the amateur radio press does no good whatsoever for amateur radio
either, or anyone for that matter.

Hi Bernie,
I am also sorry to see
years and I think very
highly of him and his expertise.
The board was informed of
was not informed of any
reason that
Although we'll miss
Harold Kramer, our Chief
Operating Officer, along with Dave Sumner's
oversight will find a
suitable candidate for this position. Knowing both
Dave and Harold
personally, I feel confident that they will do their very
best in obtaining the
best possible candidate.
Best wishes for the New
Year!
73,
Bill Edgar N3LLR
Atlantic Division
Director
