New Diamond Club membership buckslips have been printed.  These buckslips are included in all membership renewals to encourage members to step up to the Diamond Club level of giving and offer a $10 Donor Rewards Certificate as an extra incentive.  Thank you to Marketing for allowing the Development Office to offer this incentive.

Invitations to more than 400 donors and board members for the 13th Annual Donor Reception in Dayton on May 16, 2013 are being printed and will be mailed next week.  Save the date cards and email messages were sent last week.

Plans for the Dayton Hamvention are being developed including a promotion to encourage current members to “step up” to the Diamond Club level and production of new posters for the Development booth.  In cooperation with Sales and Marketing Development is supporting the W1AW 75th Anniversary offers at Hamvention.

Development is in the process of confirming Maxim Society members, SCC donors, Legacy Circle members and donors of $1,000 or more during 2012 for listing in the 2012 ARRL Annual Report and on the website.

The ARRL Board of Directors has approved the public goal of $10 million for the Second Century Campaign to be completed by the end of the ARRL Centennial year.  Messaging and materials for the public announcement of the goal are underway.

The Second Century Campaign will have an expanded public presence in the ARRL Expo in Dayton with extra booth space in the Development area and special signage.

Development is working with graphics on the production of a Second Century Campaign Donor pin to be given to campaign donors at the Donor Reception in Dayton.

Personalized packages have been mailed to all 124 Maxim Society donors and a limited group prospects for a combined WRTC2014/Second Century Campaign request for contributions.

First quarter pledge reminder letters have been mailed to the Second Century Campaign donors.

W1AW

Thanks to Bob Allison, WB1GCM, Ken Bailey, K1FUG, Nathan McCray, K9CPO, Mike Corey, KI1U and Steve Ewald, WV1X, for operating W1AW in the Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) Weekend Sprintathon.  They made 202 contacts on 80, 40, 20 and 15 meters for a Sprint Score of 11,526.

On Wednesday, workers from Salone Electric were on hand to install new fluorescent light fixtures and two fans in the upstairs conference room.  In preparation of this work, Sonitrol was here the day before to move a smoke-head that would have been in the way.

Joe processed three Qualifying Run certificates and one Qualifying Run endorsement.  He created the texts for the March W1AW Qualifying Runs.  He updated the web code practice files.  Joe readied the equipment in Studio One for the SKCC Weekend Sprintathon.  He cleared the upstairs conference room in preparation of the light fixture install work.  He also began prepping a new tower PC (Windows 7/64) that will be installed in Studio Two.  Joe also installed a new Acom 2000A amplifier in the broadcast racks.  This new amp replaces one of two remaining Harris power amplifiers.  He also corrected an issue with the broadcast equipment keying matrix.  Joe also met with one last masonry contractor for a quote to repoint W1AW.

Field Organization/Public Service Team

Leona Adams reports that Pat Malan, N6VLU, of South Jordan, has been nominated to run for the next term of office as Utah’s Section Manager.  His nomination arrived before the deadline on March 8.  Mickey Applebaum, KE7NZA, and incumbent Section Manager Mel Parkes, NM7P, are also candidates in the Utah Section Manager election this spring.

In Nebraska, Matt Anderson, KAØBOJ, and Dan Steinhoff, W7UP, are the candidates in the Nebraska Section Manager election for a term that is 18 months long (because of re-solicitation) and begins on July 1.  The current Nebraska SM Art Zygielbaum, KØAIZ decided not to run for a new term of office.  He has served in this position since January 2009.

Pete Stohrer, K1PJS, of Concord, New Hampshire, will become the Section Manager as of July 1.  He was the only nominee.  Al Shuman, K1AKS, the New Hampshire Section Manager since 2008, decided not to run for another term of office.

The following incumbent Section Managers do not face opposition in the springtime elections, and their terms of office also begin on July 1.  Jim Cross, WI3N, Maryland/DC; Rich Krohn, N2SMV, Northern New Jersey; Joe Giraudo, N7JEH, Nevada; Bob Beaudet, W1YRC, Rhode Island; Dan Pruitt, AE6SX, San Joaquin Valley; Bill Roberts, W5NPR, West Texas; Jim Mezey, W2KFV, New York City/Long Island.  Jim’s (W2KFV) term of office is for 18 months versus the normal 2 year term because of a re-solicitation.

Chuck Skolaut compiled and forwarded the monthly Intruder Watch report to the IARU Region 2 Coordinator.  More reports were received of a steady carrier on 3526.5 kHz and an alert was sent to our ARRL Monitoring group.  Questions on “freeband” operation, operating overseas, and license requirements were dealt with.  Chuck also prepared for the ARR Oklahoma State Convention/Green Country Convention on March 8 and 9.
