I trust Harold will be OK with me converting the punch list to Word 2003 format and forwarding.  It is attached.

Hi,

I understand that some of you cannot open the attachment with the punch list file.  I am not sure what happened. It is a Word 2007 document and I have sent them many times before.

I am writing this from home and, therefore, I cannot try resending the file since it is on my office machine and I am leaving for Dayton early tomorrow.  I will have to resend the complete file when I return. In the meantime, here is the abbreviated version that I pasted into an email and sent to the SM list earlier in the day.  Sorry for the confusion.

73,
Harold

Subject: Web Update May 12th

To: SMs

As requested, here is my current punch list. I have tried to be accurate with my information and I have included information that would be of interest to Section Managers.   Along with the major issues below, we have made hundreds of content changes, corrections and additions since launch.  Having content control over the non-data related pages has been great.  Katie Glass and the rest of the team will continue to work with many of you directly on further fixes and suggestions But, wow, there are a lot of applications and pieces of content that some of us never realized, remembered or knew about that were on our old Web site!  This process is also providing us with an opportunity to “normalize” our data across the organization and improve our internal data structure and integrity.  Jon Bloom is better able to speak to this issue than I am.  Also, this week, Jon is on a well deserved vacation that he scheduled months ago.  I usually run these reports by him in advance to make sure that I have not made any technical errors, so any errors in this summary are mine alone.

Please do not redistribute or post this document or portions of it.  This is for your information that I hope will be useful in answering questions from your volunteers and members.

I am heading to Dayton tomorrow so I hope to see many of you there.

Overall:

1.       Permissions - The issues with permissions changing should now be finally fixed.  We can now permit an SM’s designee access to edit their SM’s page, if specifically requested by the SM.  Please send an email to Katie to implement this.

2.       The Google Search has been activated and working much better than the temporary search that was originally installed.

3.       The inconsistent results on some of the internal searches (5 digit versus 9 digit zip code) has been corrected.

4.       The Log In/Log Out issue is resolved.  You no longer have to repeatedly log in.

Section Managers

1.       A link to the “[Name of Section] News” is now displayed  the individual member’s Home Page .

2.       The Section Alert function has now been restored.  There is a special editor in the SM edit section that will permit an SM to issue an alert message that will show on the home page under the Section News.  The alert itself will display on the top of the Section News page.  SMs:  please check that this is  working for you.

3.       We are still working on the best way to display multiple appointments in the Field Organization data base.

4.       The Certificate Maker is on the list but still not restored.

5.       We are going to restore printing and data output functions in the next few weeks.

Clubs:

1.       “Special Service Club” identification has been restored.

2.       Club’s addresses have been restored to the map and will also appear in the search text.

3.       The search functionality has been improved.

4.       We will be restoring the following in the next ten business days:

a.       Club Web Site URL

b.      Better editing functions for Club officers

c.       Improvements in the backend administrative tool.

5.       In the longer term, we will be working to restore more of the club related data print outs.

DXCC and Awards: (ARRL internal functionality)

1.       DXCC pending applications has been restored and up to date

1.       DXCC standings has been restored and are up to date

2.       Awards Manager Database displayed but not updating from earlier in the year.

3.       HF and VHF Card Checkers Database displayed but not updating from earlier in the year

4.       A-1 Ops Database but not updating from earlier in the year

(Note: The new Web site is generating more activity in these awards areas since the information is now easier to find)

Education Services:

1.       The Licensing Class registration portion is mostly completed.

2.       Addresses for licensing classes were restored this week.

3.       The data errors that were present at launched have been fixed.

4.       The “Additional  Information” field will be added back in by the end of next week.

5.       Similar to VEC, there are still some mapping errors related to our internal data that are being investigated.

6.       There is some work to do in the backend including refining the delete/edit functionality and  finalizing the permissions.

7.       There is still internal work to accomplish on the Continuing Education courses and functionality.

8.       The advanced EmComm course is up and running. (Thanks to the SMs for their cooperation in approving the first applicants)

9.       There are a few remaining issues with Instructor Registration, some policy related.

Hamfests:

1.       The Hamfest portion of the Web site is substantially completed.  There are one or two bugs that need to be worked out that occur in some particular instances.

Lab and QST Archive

1.       The QST archive is not delivering the articles that have a special URL in the archive database.  Either the files all need to be moved from the old site to the new, with the same URL   This is a big job so we are trying to determine how to automate it.  If not , we will manually move them.

2.       We need to restore editing capability to the QST database that causes it not to deliver the full article

Special Events:

The following changes will be made by Fathom within the next ten business days:

1.       The “Time”  fields will display say "UTC" on Web page  -

2.       We are adding/deleting/moving fields as recommended by Matey

3.       The Google Maps will be removed  from Special Events

4.       The Search Results page is being updated and improved

Volunteer Exam Coordinator

1.       The VEC portion of the Web site is substantially completed.

a.       The second line of the FCC address data has been restored;

b.      the FRN errors have been fixed;

c.       and the “No Walk-Ins allowed” message has also been fixed.

2.       There is some internal ARRL data that still needs connecting including session counts.

3.       There are still some mapping areas, across the site, probably related to errors in ARRL’s internal data system.  Jon Bloom and staff are investigating these errors.

You can always contact Steve Ewald, Katie Glass or me on these issues.

73,

Harold
