My response to this is that it’s primarily an education problem, plus hams who simply don’t follow voluntary band plans. It’s the same with the SSB vs SSTV crowd. SSB station fires up on 14.230, SSTV guys fire up over them, requests to move are ignored and the cycle repeats itself.

One thing we can do is ask politely for contesters to stay clear of those allocations because most of the clash happens during contests.

75m is another matter entirely. People “own” frequencies there and been on there for years with rusted in place VFOs.

I also think what we did with the AM rally can bring awareness to the mode, especially among new ops. I operate AM from time to time with modern gear (SDR+ LDMOS amp). They’re glad to have me on, even though my radio doesn’t glow in the dark.

The letter expresses Bob's concern regarding the gentleman's agreement regarding AM and a request for assistance from the League to address what he sees as the apparent withering away of that agreement and understanding.

Bob's letter and concerns warrant some study and a response. And it may offer another opportunity for the League to be seen as responsive to the needs/concerns of our Members.
