I need to correct one error in my email of last evening, and that is December
1 is the goal to have the “Division
Legislative Action Chair” appointed, not the LAA.
Sorry for the error and thanks to Jim for “re-railing”
me!

Legislative Action Program Documenst for Distribution
On behalf of the ad hoc Legislative Action Committee, I’m
very pleased to send you the completed versions of three documents that should make it possible for our you to move toward development of a Legislative Action Program in your divisions. These documents and
their purposes are:
1.
The Legislative Action Assistant – A Handbook of
Operations – To
outline the rationale and functioning of the Legislative Action Assistant (LAA)
in relationship with the Legislative Action Coordinator (LAC) and the Director/Division
Legislative Action Chair (DLAC) or Director.
2. The Legislative Action
Program: Volunteer Qualifications – To outline the qualifications and expectations for
the District Legislative Action Chair (DLAC), the Legislative Action
Coordinator (LAC) and the Legislative Action Assistant (LAA).
3. The ARRL Legislative Action
Program FAQ
– To provide answers and perspective to questions about the Program that
we anticipate may arise frequently. This FAQ also should be useful for
supplying background information on the overall Legislative Action Program.
These
documents, individually or collectively, may prove helpful in recruiting
members into the Legislative Action Program as well as for instructing members
who have already joined the program in their tasks.
The
Legislative Action Assistant – A Handbook of Operations (item No. 1) has
been expanded and improved considerably since copies of an earlier draft were
distributed to the Board family in July. Therefore, all prior versions
should be discarded in favor of the current version that is dated 090406.
Item No.3
was forwarded to you previously; however, it has undergone a limited amount of
editing as well.
Item No. 2 is being sent to you for the first time.
If you have
any additional materials you would like the Committee to make available
please let them know.
The Grassroots area of the Members Only page of the ARRL web site
still needs some revision to get everything in place. That is currently in review.
To start, I would like to know how many Divisions
currently have a Legislative Action Assistant and a Legislative Action Program
set up in your division.
If you do not currently have an LAA appointed, I would
like to set a December 1, 2006 goal to have your appointment in place.
