I must crow about the crew in Ohio, as well. Both the Ohio House and, just recently, Senate have passed "PRB-1" bills. The bills are in conference committee because the House version had a presumptive minimum height of 75' in it and the Senate bill did not. A few senators balked at including this presumptive limit. House leadership and the bill sponsors are agreeable to removing the height statement from the House bill. We expect the final bill to go to the governor for his signature soon. Dick Congratulations!! Is HB1390 a duplicate of the Federal PRB-1 or does it have different wording? It takes a great deal of smart, hard work to pass any legislation. Your team is to be congratulated. 73 ----------------------------------------------------- John Robert Stratton N5AUS <http://mymail.arrl.org/exchange/k1zz/Drafts/RE:%20[arrl-odv:20753]%20Re:%20 ILLINOIS%20House%20PRB-1%20Passed!.EML/1_multipart/ATT124139.gif> West Gulf Division Vice Director West Gulf Division Legislative Action Chair Office telephone: 512-445-6262 Cell: 512-426-2028 PO Box 2232 Austin, Texas 78768-2232 ----------------------------------------------------- On 5/2/12 3:09 PM, dick@pobox.com wrote: 2 MAY 2012 - 1508 CDT I am happy to announce that Illinois House Bill (HB1390) was passed by a vote of 106 to 10. This is, of course, the first of three steps before the terms of FCC PRB-1 become part of the Illinois Municipal Code. By the time HB1390 came to the house floor at 12:15 CDT today, it had picked up 20 co-sponsors. The keys to this success are: 1. having an active ham and ARRL member, as the principal sponsor, Rep Charles Krezwick, WC9V, IL District 37 2. having an effective SGL, Charlie Richey, K9DUE (a registered lobbyist) spend a lot of time helping HB1390's principal sponsor pick up key additional support. 3. obtain the active support of the Illinois Speaker Of The House, Michael Madigan. 4. getting hams in the Illinois legislative districts to send polite, effective requests for support of HB1390. The main rationale used for supporting this bill was Amateur Radio emergency and public service communications. We already have sponsor(s) lined up for the Illinois Senate proposed bill. At this time, I don't know the time frame for the senate bill. But I think it's a safe assumption that we will press for Illinois Senate approval before adjournment. 73 - Dick, W9GIG _______________________________________________ arrl-odv mailing list arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org http://reflector.arrl.org/mailman/listinfo/arrl-odv
