I apologize coming in so late to discuss this issue, but since Mike asked for comments, I would just like to add mine. Protection of our logos is important, and efforts to this end should continue; HOWEVER, I don't think misuse of our logos is what is giving us the main heartburn in this situation. I think it is the perception that a commercial company took the good work of our board in dealing with a difficult and controversial issue, hijacked it for their own benefit, and implied that we were "siding" with them. I say "perception" and "implied" because nothing in their newsletter, other than the Logos, could be considered "actionable", as you legal eagles say. However, I know that is how many of our members will view this issue. I think this issue needs some major PR via our mass media capabilities. For example, the use of remote operating for those elderly or disabled hams that can no longer keep up a personal station or are confined to assisted care/nursing homes; The increasing population that are affected with HOA's; Those that live their entire life in apartments, who would otherwise never know the joy of HF and have no reason to upgrade their licenses, as the only part of ham radio they would ever know would be repeaters. After all, we all know we did not do this for the benefit of a commercial company. We did this to embrace the new technology, to further promote DXCC to those who may not otherwise have the capabilities to participate, and to allow the DXCC program to grow. We pride ourselves as being communicators. Let's take this opportunity to communicate our true intentions on this issue with our members.
