Dear ODV, This year’s Giving Tuesday campaign was focused around supporting youth. Members who have selected not to receive solicitations were not included in the email blasts. We did receive several comments about sending too many emails related to the campaign. We tried something that many other organizations were doing this year and it obviously wasn’t well received by our membership. Lesson learned for next year. While it is worthy that we encourage youth in amateur radio, I would like to know exactly what email lists one has to be on to opt in/out of this email. In the end the user/member needs to be in control over what marketing email ends up in their inbox. The real danger is that if members don't know which lists they are on to get these emails, and how to opt out, they will simply unsubscribe to all emails. This includes important alerts for legislative and other action as well as section and division emails.
