Dave -- I suspected it wasn't staff or a Director since that'd be completely atypical, and am glad you confirmed my suspicion. I learned of this after being contacted by a friend of mine in the DC area who was there and found a completely empty booth with ARRL's name posted above it. Not only a great opportunity lost (an event that planned for upwards of 100,000 visitors throughout the two days many of them youth, consistent with our organization's pillars, situated prominently on the DC mall, attended by oodles of other science and engineering organizations/companies who we could forge relationships with), but sort of embarassing that somebody representing the organization registered (for what appears to have cost $250-$500), and completely dropped the ball. Probably didn't do much for ARRL's image/reputation. (Note: This is a general statement; not directed to any one person since nobody on the local scene said they knew anything about it) 73, Brian N5ZGT On Mon, 25 Oct 2010, Sumner, Dave, K1ZZ wrote:
Brian, this is a bit of a sad story. The ARRL was indeed listed as an exhibitor for last weekend's event on the National Mall. However, the registration was not done by ARRL staff. The registration listed MDC SM Jim Cross as the contact, but Jim disclaimed any knowledge of it and was out of the area during the event. He told us that the club best situated to do such an exhibit had its hamfest the same weekend. By the time we learned about the apparent snafu in Newington it was too late to do anything about it.
Maybe whoever did the registration actually followed through and did something on the Mall, but if so they haven't told us -- despite using the ARRL's name.

I heard that there was an ARRL booth at the National Science & Enginering Expo in Washington, DC. Was anyone on staff or the Board in on this?
