In addition, Flex Radio has also expanded their presence in QST with a second full page and Elecraft has taken the "Feature" banner spot on the LoTW Website recently vacated by DX Engineering. On the flip-side, due to evaluating advertising resources, Main Trading Company has made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend their campaign of one and two page print QST spreads (including Cover 3 of QST) for the time being. Commline (Jun's Electronics) will be taking Cover 3 for the May issue after a QST absence of several years. Chief Executive Office Reported by Tom Gallagher, NY2RF [Ralph Crumrine N0KC with Ron Cowan KB0DTI plaque presentation] Each month, one article in QST is selected by a poll of QST readers online (at http://www.arrl.org/cover-plaque-poll) as that month's favorite article. Carla Pereira sends each winning author a plaque featuring that month's cover with their name and article title engraved. Occasionally, that division's Director, Vice Director, or Section Manager will present the plaque to the winner formally at an event or club meeting. The January cover plaque was presented to winner Ralph Cumrine, N0KC, by Kansan Section Manager Ron Cowan, KBØDTI, who kindly shared a photo of the presentation. The second episode of "60-Second Century" with Tom Gallagher was filmed last week. "60-Second Century" is a one-minute video companion to Tom's monthly editorials for QST. The new episode will be uploaded to ARRL's YouTube and social media sites soon. In the meantime, you can watch the first episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdkRr8BYb9E. Tom also travelled to Florida to visit with the convention bureaus of Broward and Palm Beach counties, scouting potential event locations for future events. While in Florida he also met with five South Florida radio clubs over the weekend, accompanied by Joe Tiritilli, N4ZUW, Vice Director, Southeast Division. Direct sales were $131,294; dealer sales were $82,951. A large amount of the shortfall is attributed to less than predicted sales of the Ham Radio License Manual, which outpaced our forecasts for most of 2016 due to exceptionally large orders from one major reseller. Royalties earned on sales of our Kindle e-books were $6,945 ($15,719 year-to-date). ARRL earned $3,279 for royalties attributed to the ARRL Visa Credit Card in February. The largest source of program growth is email conducted by ARRL on behalf of US Bank. YTD (Jan & Feb), ARRL has earned $6,378. In 2016, ARRL earned total royalties of $47,910 -- a 7% increase over 2015. There are 2,669 open cards. ARRL earns royalties on newly opened cards and on net purchases. Jackie Ferreira reports that an emailing promoting ARRL's Hands-On Radio books contributed 143 orders that included both volumes over the weekend. In May, we will introduce a new book: International Antennas, published by the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). The book is a compendium of contributions from RSGB, ARRL and the Wireless Institute of Australia. We have supplied marketing contributions for a new ARRL publication being readied by the Publications Dept: Grounding and Bonding for the Radio Amateur, written by Ward Silver. Yvette Vinci, with others, completed tasks to support planning for the new membership system. Bob Inderbitzen reports that planning for ARRL's participation at Hamvention is ongoing. He negotiated eight ARRL-sponsored forums, and recruited presenters. REMINDER: board and staff members supporting our exhibits and activities at Hamvention, May 19-21, should complete and submit the following online registration form by March 31: http://www.arrl.org/hamvention-arrl-team-registration.
