Thanks for the good news, Mark. 73, Bob -- W6RGG ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wilson, Mark K1RO" <k1ro@arrl.org> To: "arrl-odv" <arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Sent: Monday, May 19, 2003 12:03 PM Subject: [ARRL-ODV:8796] Logbook of the World Update Since beta testing began Friday, over 800 different callsigns have been registered to the LoTW Beta project, and those people have submitted over 2.2 million QSOs to the system! Most are finding plentiful matches to their submissions, which means those are good 2 way QSOs. Obviously after LoTW goes live the authentication process will become more difficult, but people will know that it will be worth the effort and that the system works. The Beta period has located a few bugs and glitches and some areas for improvement but overall LoTW has been working well. There is a bit of consternation among Macintosh users because we have not provided a stand alone utility for that platform. A major thrust of the development effort was a library of source code and software tools for logging software developers and other software writers to incorporate LoTW submission features in their own programs. We carefully chose the components (libraries, etc) of the software to ensure that Macintosh ports exist for each component. So it should be relatively easy to do the port for someone who is equipped and experienced in Mac development. And at least one such developer has come forward so far. If you receive any correspondence about the Mac issue, please feel free to forward it to Dave Patton here at HQ (nt1n@arrl.org) for a response. 73, Mark K1RO
