Marty,

As one who completed all three levels of EC several years ago, I think Joyce's idea is a great one, and I didn't read it as requiring a new on-line course.  Why couldn't the update material be put into print and sold as a stand-alone publication?

You are correct.  Thanks for reminding me.  I should have mentioned that the latest course versions are available in the EmComm course books that we already sell   In fact, the Emcomm I course book has just been extensively revised.  http://www.arrl.org/catalog/?item=8462#top

Failing that, the info could be put into the members-only Web site for all graduates to access.

We cannot simply post the courses on our Web site since they are not in accessible to us in conventional HTML format.  They are hosted by CTDLC – the Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium http://www.ctdlc.org/.  They use custom LMA software called Web Mentor.  Each student enrollment custom creates an individual course and we are charged a license fee for each “seat.”   Also, if we could somehow extract the HTML, we would still need to build another custom application that only would allow previous graduates to access the material.

We have discussed putting the book on the Web as a pdf application, but again, this is a business decision that would require additional custom programming, software to authenticate the user and a method of charging user fees.

Harold
