I agree that we do nothing outwardly at this time, but I don’t believe that should preclude us from quietly preparing a news release to have in (y)our hip pocket “just in case”.  Only a few individuals need to be involved in the preparation.  It would seem a lot better to do the critical word-smithing in advance, rather than in hasty reaction to a news story whose timing we don’t control.

From feedback I’ve received in writing and via phone, the consensus is that we do nothing.

 

The mechanisms for served agencies to request assistance are already in place.  If they need assistance they will request it and our members will respond.

 

Going beyond that may spotlight the events.  Our comments could cause members who wouldn’t have had a thought of getting involved to jump up and take unwelcome action.
