This was on the A&F agenda, item 6, (c), “Board Management Software” published in the agenda sent to ODV on April 1. There was a conference call established for the entire meeting for call-in, and some attended remotely.

There is no standing committee meeting that is secret from board members by Standing Order, as you know.

Mickey;

Thanks for the information, it's the first I've heard of it. Since the Spring A&F meeting was held in secret, there are probably others on the Board that are as in the dark on this (and probably other upcoming A&F actions) as I am. If the League was flush with a positive cash flow I'd probably have an different outlook on this, but right now I'm a skeptic.

Hopefully this will be a better investment than either BoardSource, or Kaleidoscope.

This is a $10k/year expense that I brought to A&F that we discussed in our Spring meeting.

This does replace Dropbox. This will also do the agenda, track changes to items, collect votes, conduct voting remotely in accordance with CT law and many other tasks. It has a “minutes module” that will help staff generate minutes accurately and hopefully, more efficiently. Some of the $10k can be justified via saved staff time and consistency over the years. I believe this will prove to be easier for all of us, and a great tool to manage the changes in the board and a changing work force.

It can be used for committees. It is a complete package, and is cloud based - no IT involvement from ARRL, other than administrative logins and setup. Ongoing Training is part of the package, and there is online support.

 Board Effect tracks items on the agenda - the item voted on will be the item on the table. It is the market leader in this space with 8,000 customers. Dr. Niswander has experience with it from being on the Board of AICPA.

Due to the relatively low cost and the administrative purpose, it is clearly in the purview of A&F as an administrative tool for the Board. The argument for this package is that is clearly the leader in this type application, competitors have far fewer non-profit adoptees. The package is feature rich and Board Effect has non-profit membership associations as references.

Hope that helps. Please attend the training.

When did the ARRL Board approve of the use of this software package for Board meetings? Where did this come from?

What is this costing us? What does it bring to the table? Is it replacing Dropbox?
