As of today we still have 4 Directors, 2 Vice Directors and 1 Officer that has not participated our Development program for 2009. Please call Mary today and make arrangements. Thank you. 73 Joel W5ZN _____ From: Joel Harrison [mailto:w5zn@arrl.org] Sent: Monday, November 16, 2009 9:35 AM To: arrl-odv Subject: Development Giving ARRL is fortunate to have a successful Development program. It has allowed us to continue to do a number of things that would not have been possible without addressing revenue increases in other areas, including membership dues, or reducing services to our members in order to fund activities the board may conclude has a higher priority. We are also very fortunate as an organization to have members who care enough about ARRL and amateur radio to unselfishly participate with additional giving beyond their membership dues. I know for a fact that one question frequently asked by many of our donors is "Does the ARRL Board participate 100% in the program?" There is a good reason for this......many of our donors (some MAJOR ones) simply want to know that our Board not only supports the program with their vote but with their money as well. I'll be honest with you.....I absolutely HATE asking people for a monetary donation, but it is my job as President to do so when it regards the board and you know I have had the "honor" of doing so each and every year recently. So, while it is still 7 weeks before the end of the year I want to take this early opportunity to encourage you to do so as soon as possible. There are currently 8 Directors and 3 officers that have not participated this year (2009). By contrast, there are only 4 Vice Directors that have not! If you are not sure whether you have contributed in 2009, drop Mary Hobart a note and ask. She can let you know. I do not know who you are, will not know and don't want to know. That is not the point. The amount you donate is your business. I won't know and don't want to know. That is not the point. What is important and should be important to all of us is the significance to the organization to have our board participating in the program 100%. It encourages giving from others or impacts the amount some give. Thank you for your consideration and understanding. I'm confident that we will follow the example of previous years and achieve 100% Board participation in our Development program. 73 Joel W5ZN
