Hi
I wanted to forward everyone
on the Board this message from Jon Bloom about some new technology that he has
deployed on our web site.
I've updated the ARRL Member Search page that appears in the
ODV and SM areas of the site. This updated page makes use of "AJAX” technology, a
technique used by Google Mail and other interactive Web applications. This
is our first foray into the technology, and it will be interesting to see how
the users like it.
The kind of interactivity AJAX technology brings to the ARRL Member
Search page will migrate to the rest of the site over time if it proves
reliable and problem-free.
The technology in use on the page has some exciting
possibilities, of which the use on the ARRL Member Search page only scratches
the surface. Probably the most famous AJAX Web application is Google Maps, and
while we're not likely to do anything quite like that, clearly the technology
has possibilities for new Web interactivity capabilities that would enhance the
ARRL site dramatically.
