Diane - great job. If we are not getting a few complaints from our demographic about solicitations, we're probably not being aggressive enough. I hope that we're all tracking our budget process - revenue is very important! Diane,
Thanks for letting us know. Delighted to hear that the campaign went well.
Learning experiences are worthwhile even if they cause a bit of discomfort.

Dear ODV,
This year’s Giving Tuesday campaign was focused around supporting youth. Members who have selected *not* to receive solicitations were not included in the email blasts. We did receive several comments about sending too many emails related to the campaign. We tried something that many other organizations were doing this year and it obviously wasn’t well received by our membership. Lesson learned for next year. On the positive side, we did exceed our goal of $25,000 and gained an additional Maxim member from the campaign this year.

I've received similar complaints. It would be good to add a how to opt out/in as a tag at the end of all of these emails.

A couple of members have complained to me about emails sent about youth. They don't remember signing up for such emails.
One such complaint:
" A big kick in the butt is due to the marketer at the ARRL who forcibly subscribed me to a recent spate of ham radio's youth emails without my approval. That's BAD etiquette in my book."
Members are also now complaining on social media about this.
While it is worthy that we encourage youth in amateur radio, I would like to know exactly what email lists one has to be on to opt in/out of this email. In the end the user/member needs to be in control over what marketing email ends up in their inbox.
The real danger is that if members don't know which lists they are on to get these emails, and how to opt out, they will simply unsubscribe to all emails. This includes important alerts for legislative and other action as well as section and division emails.
