In a move last seen in 2008, today the IRS announced a mid-year increase in the reimbursement rate for personal mileage used for business. Effective July 1, 2011 the rate will be 55.5 cents per mile. This is an increase of 4.5 cents per mile over the rate prescribed for the first six months of the year. As is our policy, the ARRL will allow for reimbursement of personal mileage incurred on behalf the organization at $0.555 per mile for all travel after June 30, 2011. Enclosed is the travel expense report spreadsheet updated for the new rate.
The mileage rate for providing services for charitable organizations is set by statute, not the IRS, and remains at 14 cents a mile.
