This kind of stuff from an SM is not helping. I was trying to respond to the note Ria just sent me when I saw this ODV message. Decisions are being made by the minute and nothing is set in stone. And as I have said before, patience and flexibility. Having to chase and dispel these rumors only slows the pace of decision making here at HQ.
That is only partially accurate. As I’ve told the Board, the Governor has ordered a 100% reduction for in-person staffing for all non-essential and not-for-profit businesses in the State as of 8 pm tonight. We will have almost ¾ of the staff working remotely and continuing to provide services albeit in a reduced capacity depending on the area. We are working on a plan that will keep one person in the warehouse to ship orders, admittedly at a reduced pace and W1AW transmissions should continue. Both of these are in keeping with the guidelines issued last night by the CT Dept of Economic and Community Development. We will also be allowed to receive mail and packages (but likely not process).
I’m going to track down who gave out this information. Ria, it would help me if you contacted the SM in question and found out who he talked to. That will be the quickest way to put an end to it.
We will have a story on the web site before the end of the day.

Subject: [arrl-odv:29938] ARRL operational status, rumors and information
This morning a section manager sent out this:
“ Subject: ARRL officially shut down
Good morning all,
I had to call the ARRL this morning on another matter and was informed
that today is the last day that the ARRL headquarters will be staffed.
Because of the Corona virus there will only be one person holding down
the fort, and the rest of the staff will be working from home.
I was told that especially any orders for publications will be delayed.
I do not know what or how any other services will be effected by this
shut down. I have no further information at this time.

I don’t know how much of this is accurate but I would like for those sending out information about the operational status of HQ to have it from a central, authoritative source rather than just some random person at HQ.
I do think that messages that say that “ARRL is shut down” are inconsistent with what Barry has been saying - that we have REDUCED operations with staff working remotely.
What can be done to ensure that we all have one message that is accurate and consistent?
