Last Wednesday the FCC denied a petition by W0YR and W6FDR, RM10740, that sought to limit the bandwidth of SSB and DSB AM signals. The rationale for the petition was given in an Op-Ed in August 2003 QST (page 83). ARRL normally does not comment on petitions for rulemaking unless they threaten amateur allocations, and did not do so in this case.
