I’ve also been talking up ham radio among local IEEE groups. I gave a talk the other day at IEEE-CNNJ and got a lot of interest. One was even a ham who got his tech ticket and had forgotten about it.
I found it somewhat disheartening that today we have to market ham radio to engineers. Years ago it was almost a given that RF and electrical engineers would at least know about ham radio.

Dear Officers, Directors and Vice-Directors,
I thought that you might be interested in seeing the latest issue of
IEEE-HKN's The Bridge magazine. Eta Kappa Nu (ΗΚΝ) or IEEE-HKN is the
international honor society of the Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE) with over 200,000 members. This issue is
devoted to amateur radio. Bob NQ1R and I worked with them and ARRL has
good coverage!
