The first batch of personalized ARRL Centennial Edition Handbooks were ordered from the printer: 2,549 copies. Thanks to John Proctor (IT Department) for his help assembling the list from orders we have accumulated during the last 2 months. Those books will be fulfilled by mid-October. Jackie Ferreira is preparing a Handbook mailing to solicit additional orders for the book. We will continue to take orders for personalized books throughout the next months, or while supplies last. A handful of Centennial Convention activities are underway, including planning with an exhibit services company that will manage the decorating and other setup details at the convention center. Allison Barbieri has obtained competitive bids from a couple of bus companies, to help transport convention attendees from downtown Hartford to ARRL Headquarters for tours. Yvette Vinci has been compiling information to complete the annual Statement of Ownership, Management and Circulation for our annual periodicals: QST, QEX and NCJ. The statements are required by the US Postal Service. Thanks to Steve Ewald and Chuck Skolaut for overseeing their activity. Joe processed regular QSL card requests. He also designed and built a keying circuit that will be used to eventually both power and key (the HV section) of Old Betsy. Field Organization/Public Service Team This year's Section Manager's Workshop, held here in Newington from September 20 to 22, was a success. Steve Ewald thanks all staff members who provided great support. Session presenters kept the conversations going, and the participating Section Managers reported that they learned a whole lot. Comments from attendees have been very positive. Leona Adams reports that the Tennessee Section Manager election ballots and candidate statements have been mailed. Thanks from our mailroom staff, this mailing was completed ahead of the October 1 deadline. ARRL members in Tennessee have until November 15 to return their ballots. The open nomination period announcement for the International Humanitarian Award was prepared and distributed. Chuck Skolaut received reports about bad language and operating practices on 7.200 MHz. The regional OOC was alerted to have OOs check it out. Problems happening on a Western Massachusetts repeater were also being checked. The Santa Clara Valley OOC reported on some intermittent jamming happening on a local repeater, and an investigation continues. Questions received and answered this week included operating overseas, Technician Class privileges, and information about and receiving the OO reflector. Chuck also helped with planning for the Section Managers' Workshop. He assisted with transportation needs for the Section Managers and hosted their operating at W1AW.
