The following was announced by the White House
yesterday.

The President intends to nominate Jonathan Steven Adelstein, of South
Dakota, to be a Commissioner for the Federal Communications Commission, for the
remainder of a five-year term expiring June 30, 2008. Mr. Adelstein has served
as Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission since 2002. Before
joining the FCC, he served as a senior legislative aide to Senator Tom Daschle.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Adelstein was a teaching fellow in the History
Department at Harvard University and a teaching assistant in the History
Department at Stanford University. He received his bachelor's degree and
master's degree from Stanford University.
