Shortly there will be a news release issued by Martti Laine, OH2BH, announcing the Albania training project that's described in November QST "How's DX?", pages 96-97. The release mentions that the project has ARRL support. In case you're asked, this does not include financial support; the individuals participating are paying their own way. Our support is limited to providing some training material, along with moral support.
Because Martti is such a high-profile individual, I mention this only so you will be equipped in advance to squelch any rumors that ARRL is helping pay for Martti's DXpedition, or whatever. Personally I think it's a worthwhile undertaking, but I've explained to Martti that ARRL/IARU priorities for developing amateur radio are in other areas (specifically the Arab states and Iran, where we encountered opposition at WRC-03, plus our longstanding priority of Africa).
