Amateur radio is multiple things and we have purposes not only in emcomm but also international goodwill, training of radio operators in general, and enhancing operational and technical skills and the radio art. All of these are part of 97.1 of the FCC regulations.
Since STEM is a big push these days, especially for youth, and we are closely tied to the space program, not emphasizing this as a reason that the service exists -particularly with regard to our spectrum that is under threat from commercial interests- is a huge missed opportunity.
