To Our Board Family:

It was originally not my desire to post this message about the spelling of
my last name to the ODV reflector.  Instead, I posted it directly to various ARRL staff members.  However, in recent direct email and mail correspondence
I have noticed the misspelling of my last name by some of you who have, up
to now, been correctly spelling it.  I have appended my previous message on this topic below.  If you have already seen it, I apologize for the duplication.  But if this is news to you, I earnestly ask you to read and heed.

Happy New Year to all of you and your families!

To All Whom It Should Concern:

I don't always look at the QST page that lists the officers, directors
and staff.  But in view of the format changes in the January 2006 issue
of QST, I looked at this page... and, for the first time, I found my last
name spelled WRONG!  I was first listed as an ARRL director in the January 2001 issue of QST and my last name was correctly spelled and it has been
since that issue until now.

I have been aware of errors in the spelling of my last name in some headquarters staff correspondence and in some of the mailing labels used
to send material to me over the last five years.  However, my last name
in the QST directors' listing (up to now), the name on my ARRL expense reimbursement checks, and virtually all of the QST articles where my name
has been mentioned, has been correctly spelled.  Up to now, I have not made
these occasional errors an issue because they have been confined to in-
house communications.  The QST screw-up changes this.

Please verify the spelling of my last name in all the various ARRL data-
bases is  ISELY , not Isley or some other variant.  If it will help
ARRL staff to spell my last name correctly, please write the word "WISELY"
and then erase the "W".  That is what my father told me - over 50 years
ago - to tell people who messed up the family name.  Better yet, make sure everybody's word-processing dictionary has ISELY listed.  Then their
computers will flag and hopefully auto-correct the error.

I make it a point (barring a rare un-caught typo) to correctly spell names.
It shows I am careful and interested in and respect my correspondents.  Hopefully, this will be 100 percent reciprocated in the future within the
ARRL headquarters family.

BTW, I do like the new appearance of QST. :)
