The trouble is that it is a late catch. I could file a modified version of these comments, but it would not redact the previously filed comments in the ECFS on the FCC web site and I would normally reserve that procedure for a major screwup in the filed comments. Since the issue of the need for current license data for purposes of QSLing is already listed as a valid purpose of radio amateurs, and since LoTW is a variation on that same theme, I wouldn't normally want to go through the process. Chris, FYI, the authentication process for LoTW uses the current address of the applicant as a way of ensuring that the request has in fact come from the licensee and not someone purporting to be the licensee. I didn't find any mention of this in the Comments, though perhaps you intended to include LoTW under the discussion of obtaining licensee information for QSLing purposes. 73, Greg, K0GW

FCC proposed to delete historical license data (addresses basically) from its database, due to privacy concerns. It also asked for comment on the concept of eliminating current license data from the database as well.
Fortunately, there is an FCC decision that is very close to being on point on the issue of privacy of licensee data as you will see from the discussion in the comments.
We will report back on the thrust of other comments filed in the docket. There are only six comments filed at the moment (ARRL comments have not yet been logged) so this is not a momentous proceeding, but the due date is today.
