Yvette Vinci reports that on Friday, December 19, a reminder emailing was sent to members with a summary of “What’s trending” in January QST—taking advantage of some early analytics shared by Alli Barbieri.  The notification was sent to 115,178 members.  This is the second month for this newly introduced bulk emailing.

Bob Inderbitzen and Steve Ford participated in a webinar to see our developer’s progress on the iOS (Apple) version of the ARRL Repeater Directory app.  The Android app was introduced earlier this year.

We are enjoying a healthy surge of member orders for ARRL publications and products as we approach the end of the year.  Some of this activity has been spurred by a follow-up mailing for the 2015 ARRL Handbook and email solicitations.

Steve Capodicasa reports that in between activities to keep-up with the brisk level of order fulfillment for direct and dealer orders, the warehouse team is readying the facility for our end-of-year physical inventory (January 2) and audit (January 5).  The pre-inventory tasks include pre-counting some inventory, and cleaning and organizing the warehouse.

Summary of warehouse fulfillment activity, reported by Steve Capodicasa:

Leona Adams completed work on preparations for the three Section Manager elections that will be taking place this winter.  Candidate statements and ballots were printed and delivered to the Mailroom Staff for mailing to members in Arizona, Iowa, and Wyoming.  Leona is also receiving and handling end-of-the-year Section Manager expense reports.

Chuck Skolaut compiled and sent out the monthly Official Observer Summary to all OOs, OOCs, and Section Managers.  One radio amateur from South Texas successfully completed requirements to become an Official Observer recently.  Kentucky OOs are checking out a report of improper operation locally on 10 meters.  Documentation was received regarding operation on a Nebraska repeater, and this was forwarded to the FCC.

The FCC is also following up on a problem occurring on an Illinois repeater.  Several complaints were received regarding a Michigan amateur and his operation on the air.  Documentation was received demonstrating operation on 3.843 MHz and a complaint about interference occurring between two groups operating on 75 meters.  Questions about cross-banding, antenna zoning, and operating overseas were addressed.

Joseph Ames, W3JY, has been appointed Eastern Pennsylvania Section Manager starting on January 1, 2015, to fulfill the remaining portion of Bob Famiglio’s (K3RF) term of office as the Eastern Pennsylvania Section Manager.  Famiglio is the newly-elected Vice Director of the Atlantic Division starting January 1.  Dave Patton made the appointment after consulting with newly- elected and incoming Atlantic Division Director Tom Abernethy, W3TOM.  Ames’ appointment as Section Manager continues until March 31, 2016.
