Those of us IEEE members get the Flagship publication. See Page 14 of December issue release very recently. Very good 3 page article complimentary to amateur radio in a highly respected electrical engineering magizine. Respecting copyright (I will check their reprint policy with attribution for nonprofit use, if any), here is the opening several sentences: My first exposure to radio communication happened when I was around 5 or 6 years old. My dad was work- ing as an airport electrician. He would bring walkie-talkies home, and my broth- ers and I would play with them around the yard. That's as far as my radio expe- rience went, until a friend and I decided to get our amateur radio licenses togeth- er.
