For example, KI9XX is an ARRL Life Member (a LM is worth 2 points), a Volunteer Examiner (VE is worth 5 points) and a State Government Liaison (SGL is worth 30 points), so KI9XX should use “SGL,” since that offers the highest point value. W1AW/KH6 will be on the air from Hawaii during IARU HF in July. A couple of members have complained to me about emails sent about youth. They don't remember signing up for such emails. One such complaint: " A big kick in the butt is due to the marketer at the ARRL who forcibly subscribed me to a recent spate of ham radio's youth emails without my approval. That's BAD etiquette in my book." Members are also now complaining on social media about this. While it is worthy that we encourage youth in amateur radio, I would like to know exactly what email lists one has to be on to opt in/out of this email. In the end the user/member needs to be in control over what marketing email ends up in their inbox. The real danger is that if members don't know which lists they are on to get these emails, and how to opt out, they will simply unsubscribe to all emails. This includes important alerts for legislative and other action as well as section and division emails. Ria N2RJ
