As I understood things, a discussion of Field Day rules was possible during the recent PSC meeting. I've seen no report on the outcome. One of the Southwestern Division Section Managers is being harassed about Field Day rules, and the messages are copied to me. I would like to send some sort of reply to the complainer stating the League's position, but am not sure what to say. Is there a paragraph or something explaining that the rules stay the same, but people are encourages to follow directions of health officials, or something like that? 73, Dick, N6AA

Each of the three ARRL Board standing committees has an e-mail reflector for use in conducting business. It appears that a significant amount of committee communication is being conducted outside the reflectors. Why? Is there some belief that this is a proper part of "social distancing?" As I understand it, directors have a right to know and see essentially everything concerning the League. Why are committee communications, even to or from upper-level staff, being conducted this way? 73, Dick, N6AA

[arrl-odv:30148] A&F Meeting

All: I've received a few requests to attend the A&F meeting. Owning to the current national COVID-19 issues, there will not be a 'traditional' A&F meeting. The majority of the originally prepared agenda has been postponed until July and I will be conducting a 'bare-bones' video-conference that will discuss only those items necessary to keep the organization moving. As this is the first experience for many participants in attending a video conference, I respectfully request that non-committee members stand down. This will allow the focus on the committee and limit the potential for bandwidth contention, noise, or other extraneous issues from placing any committee attendee at a disadvantage. Should any committee member be at a disadvantage for any reason, I would have to declare the meeting to be void. I thank everyone for their understanding. I hope that this experiment will prove successful, allowing any potential future video conference meetings to be attended by any who desire. 73, Jeff, K0RM

Maybe one of the grammar gurus or lawyers can answer this: I've always considered the use of "ARRL" to be an acronym for "American Radio Relay League". That would indicate that a sentence would use the word "the" in reference to the ARRL. For example: "The ARRL (took this action)". What I'm seeing a lot of is: "ARRL (took this action)" ie: "ARRL wants you to stay safe in these times" verses "The ARRL wants you to stay safe in these times". It seems that all of the ARRL news releases I'm seeing now use the former, and not the latter. That seems somewhat odd to me. Are we now just "ARRL" (like "IBM"), and not the "American Radio Relay League" ? Is it still OK to refer to us as "the League", if we are really just "ARRL" now? 73; Mike W7VO

We ran into a snag last night trying to set up and run two meetings at the same time with the same account. That don't work. You can schedule them both, but you can not run them both.
