Hi all: As the year comes to a close, I'd like toask for your help by making a donation to the League if you have not alreadydone so this year. As most of you know I have been out of the office on vacation in NC (and am still there) since December 15th and have not had access to the internet, and hence email, until this morning when I arrived at my brother's home. Was received by the Secretary's office in a timely manner on December 20th but am just now being able to circulate it to ODV. Thanks and I apologize for being in literally an "unplugged" part of the mountains of NC for the first ten days of my scheduled vacation. Execut ive Committee at our March in-person meeting and, with some refinements in the plan, they agreed. > >The next step was to corral a drafting team, which turned out to be a very, very good and hardworking one. Dan Henderson and Alan Pitts developed and implemented several short-fuse surveys of hams. The first one asked about participation in emcomm activities. The second asked for experiences of hams with CC&Rs. With those stories, we asked for text of CC&Rs that the ham was saddled with and other information such as "could you have found other property not subject to CC&Rs?" > >We struck a nerve on the latter survey. Hams responded in droves. And they told good stories, as Kay predicted they would. The bad news is that the pervasiveness of CC&Rs reflected in the survey results surprised even us. There are over 100 comments filed so far, principally from individuals. [arrl-odv:26864] Request for Identifying Specific Radio Amateurs Who Will Be Helped By the Current HOA Bill

This should be easy. Please identify some actual Amateurs who will be helped should the current version of the ARRL-sponsored HOA bill become law. Please include what type antenna they will be permitted to use, and if not too much work, include a sentence describing their ownership status. 1) Please be certain that they are unable to get HOA approval for the proposed antenna without the legislation. 2) Please be certain that the proposed location of the desired antenna is not on an area not exclusively owned by the Amateur, such as a roof of a yard that is commonly owned and not covered by the legislation. 3) If not too much trouble, please explain how the antenna will pass the aesthetics-approval requirement if the legislation becomes law, but will not be allowed by whatever board approves such property changes at the present time. Please limit your lists to ten Amateurs each. Examples: WB2XYZ, who owns a condo on the 12th floor of a 30-story building in Manhattan, wishes to put up an 80-meter dipole. He does not exclusively own the building's roof. He proposes to support the antenna with . . . , which has been rejected by his building's architectural committee. If the legislation passes, the committee will have no ability to reject it for aesthetic reasons because . . . . WA6QRM, who owns a detached house in an HOA area desires to put up a 20-meter beam. He does not exclusively own the property. He proposes to support the antenna with . . . , which has been rejected by his HOA's architectural committee. If the legislation passes, the committee will have no ability to reject it for aesthetic reasons because . . . . Having such a list should serve to bolster the position that the legislation benefits Radio Amateurs. It should also quantify the demand for such legislation and thus assist the Board in determining an appropriate level of financial support for the legislative effort in the upcoming year.
