Strategic Planning in July

As you know we have been collecting member input on our Strategic Plan and the board had discussion on it in January. The Executive Committee, at its March meeting, spent some very productive time reviewing and updating a draft of the plan to submit to the board. This was all in preparation for a full board Strategic Planning session in July. We plan to devote one full day to our Strategic Plan with professional facilitator Bud Couch, who has worked with us several times in the past. In order for us to accomplish this it is very important, obviously, that we complete our board business in one day so I want to take this opportunity now to encourage each of you to be prepared ahead of time to accomplish this, especially if you Chair a committee. This includes submitting reports on time, ahead of the meeting, and also that you read the reports ahead of time as well and ask any questions you may have regarding those reports prior to the start of the meeting. It really isn't necessary to arrive at the meeting and request a report be removed from the Consent Agenda simply to have someone read their report to you.We were able to do this in July, 2006 when we held a session (without a professional facilitator) to update the Strategic Plan so I'm confident we'll be able to do so again. Reports will be due no later than Monday, July 13, 2009 for the 2009 Second Meeting. The exact framework of the Strategic Planning session is yet to be finalized. The Executive Committee will be working with Bud in the coming weeks to do so. It will be completed and distributed to you well in advance of the meeting. 73 Joel W5ZN

Good to see VUCC and WPX on the way for LOTW! I had that question asked of me at the Arkansas State Convention Saturday. I like Dwayne's idea here, how about a similar one on 6m and or 2m in support of VUCC being added to LOTW? Now, if Joel and Dave K1ZZ would rush that order for sunspots. 73 ES DX Dave, K5UZ

The Atlantic Division is holding its cabinet meeting this Saturday. One of our speakers is ARRL General Counsel, Chris Imlay W3KD who is doing a presentation on Legal Issues for Amateur Radio Clubs. Chris's presentation will be available live through a free webinar in which the PowerPoint will be viewed online with the audio available through VOIP or through the attendee calling the conference center which probably is a long distance phone call. Kay and all, I fully aligned with the desire to get VUCC linked with LOTW as well as with increasing the number of LOTW-only awards. Brian, at the PSC April 4 meeting there was an intimation from staff that Triple Play DXCC would be "a natural". There's also been an older idea of an annual calendar year LoTW-only DXCC. We'll put your/FD's single band idea in the mix and keep monitoring staff ideas and workload considerations. Anyone else with award ideas, please pass them along to PSC or NN1N.
