Ladies & Gentlemen, The word is beginning to spread. I don't understand the apparent reluctance to tell people openly about the problem. I have e-mailed the LOTW help and received two e-mails indicating that the problem would be resolved by the end of this week and to check the ARRL or LOTW sites for the updates. Nothing! When I attempted to upload logs one day I got a message box saying that my certificate had expired, delete it and request a new certificate. I deleted the certificate and have tried to download my current certificate from my LOTW account which is valid to July, 2012. Still the same error message. This is extremely frustrating. I'm told that my valid certificate is expired and I can't upload any logs. What gives? Thanks for any help that you can provide. Rich Johnson, W8YV 131 N. I'm all for openness. I also think it is appropriate to give staff a reasonable period of time to resolve the problem. Frankly, the only place I have heard about the problem is on the reflector. So far as I can tell from the comments thus far there has been some delay in issuing or reissuing LoTW certificates but no one has been harmed. Unless there is reason to think the fix is going to take some time it seems reasonable to wait for the fix to make a public announcement. It doesn't seem to be a big or pressing issue with the members. Lets not make it bigger than it is. 2 OCT 2009 - 1720 CDT I have been watching to see if there is any public announcement of the LoTW certificate problem that's existed over the past few weeks. As of this date, I have not seen any sort of a web site posting or a mention in the current weekly ARRL Newsletter. The public relations (credibility) damage is now done. But further delay in making this public is only making things worse. When are we going to tell the LoTW users about it? When is this certificate problem going to be resolved? - Dick, W9GIG

Dick, The committee has not yet been appointed. I expect to have it done by the EC meeting on October 24. The reasons for the delay are many, the most important is trying to conclude who should be on this committee given its potential impact and the fact that ALL repeater coordination personnel want to be on it. That, of course, would the size of the committee impossible to come to any conclusions. It has not been forgotten, just trying to work out the best combination. Harold, I think that publicly acknowledging the problem is likely to reduce problems for HQ and us that result disgruntled LoTW users than if we somehow try to keep the problem - truly a visible problem - undercover. Why not save a lot of grumbling (and save Norm Fusaro a lot of typing) and let people know what's going on?
