Greetings, As a member of ARESCOM, it find it troubling that so many who read Mr. Teller's posting on QRZ.com and take all of it as fact. If you read through the thread below, you'll see that members of the ARESCOM committee are starting to take increasing amounts of heat as a result. While I agree with Dave Sumner's opinion that we are not going to be able to influence Mr. Teller's opinion, I worry about those that are being influenced by his rants since we have said nothing in response. Because most of you have met Daniel, VE2KA, and some of you know doubt also know Bob, VE3KZ, I know there is a lot of concern for them both. Both of them have had heart attacks. Daniel is expected to have surgery. RAC Vice President Jim Dean, VE3IQ, says: "To deal with the vacancies on the Executive created by these resignations, the RAC Board of Directors will be convening a special meeting of the Board as quickly as possible. In the meantime, the rest of the Executive are carrying on with the routine operations of RAC. Until things are sorted out, I will be the RAC Executive point of contact for ARRL and IARU." Kay, I'm not aware of all of the details yet. Daniel was unable to attend the Region II Conference due to what was assumed to be a virus. It now appears it was much more serious than that. As far as the 1st VP, I have no other details. Not urgent, but put this in your "good reading when you get some free time" pile. Two weeks ago, W4DEX and K1WHS made a series of microwave contacts that included setting new overland North American records of 755 miles on 5.6 and 10 GHz. Dex and Dave wrote up how they did it: http://w4dex.com/microwave/k1whs/k1whs_w4dex_25sep04.htm I thought this was worth sharing for several reasons. The antenna photos and station descriptions show the enormous commitment that these amateurs (and others, including our own W5ZN) have made to exploring microwave propagation. Their descriptions of how they felt during and after the contacts convey a sense of excitement that, we occasionally need to be reminded, still exists abundantly in amateur radio.
