It is a loss. Wherever Steve was, it was a pleasure and a privilege to be nearby. At one Board meeting not too long ago, he took a vacant Vice Director seat at the back table. It was pleasure to share that meeting with Steve. We will miss him. We are that much better off to have known him. It is with deep sadness that I report to you that Steve Mansfield, N1MZA became a silent key at 4:00 P. M. today. Ellen his wife was with him at the time. I shall remember his wit, and enthusiasm when we worked together in Washington. He was a true D. C. "Junkie" as he liked to say. He always liked to point out to me, the various "people that are in Washington" and tell me a little about each. One night in particular, Allen Greenspan came in to the restaurant and sat at the table next to ours. You could clearly see that Steve was excited and that he loved his job. We shall miss him. From Amateur Radio Newsline(tm) Report 1302 July 26th, 2002 INTERNATIONAL - UK: HAMS GET NEW PROPAGATION STUDY BAND: UK Radio Amateurs will shortly be able to use a number of spot frequencies around 5 MHz, to take part in a four-year propagation study. A full Class-A license holder wishing to take part will require a Notice of Variation to his existing license. At the present time, the final administrative arrangements are being put into place. A further announcement will be made regarding the start date shortly.
