I also feel that that I must say that it has been a real pleasure working with and serving with Gary. He is a fine gentleman who conducted his re-election campaign with personal integrity and has always held loyalty to the League and to our membership as a primary objective. His total involvement as a member of the Great Lakes Division Leadership Team has earned him the respect and trust that he has enjoyed during his term of office. I am also very pleased that Jim Weaver has invited Gary to chair the Great Lakes Division Convention for 2003. Thanks Gary for your service and dedication to the Division. [ARRL-ODV:8152] IARU Administrative Council -- San Marino

Last month, Rod Stafford, Frank Butler, Paul Rinaldo, and I spent 10 days in the Republic of San Marino attending meetings of the IARU Administrative Council and the triennial conference of IARU Region 1. The Summary Records of the Administrative Council meetings have just been released and are attached for your information. I was present in my capacity as IARU Secretary. Paul was present as Recording Secretary, but his role transcends that; he is regarded as an important resource by all of the Council members. Rod was present in his capacity as Secretary of IARU Region 2 and traveled at Region 2 expense. Frank traveled at personal expense but was drafted into an official Region 2 capacity for the brief November 16 meeting of the Council when Rod had to return home early for personal reasons. 73, Dave K1ZZ <<02 acmin.doc>> <<02a acmin.doc>>

Before he is deleted from this reflector, I want to let everyone know that Gary has been a good friend for many years, and that he continues to show himself to be a fine gentlemen and a friend. I thank him very much for his attitude and demeanor during the recent directorial campaign and since then as he has tutored me during the transition. In Gary's case, "Former Directors never die, they don't even get a chance to go away." I am extremely pleased that he will continue as chairman of the first Great Lakes Division Convention in many years and in other efforts on behalf of the Division, ARRL and Amateur Radio. Kevin did have an active legal defense fund. I don't know how much out of the pocket expense Kevin had to pay but remember he is very famous as a super hacker in the computer nerd community. He has received roles in movies and is in big demand on the lecture tour. I even think that feds want him now to work for them probing possible terrorist web sites and internet communication. I believe he will be a big service to our country if cultivated in the right way. Even the online money transfer services have contacted him to help prevent exploitation. He will do fine. Don Miller, who I knew back in Illinois when I was attending college, contacted me last week and he is back into amateur radio. He will appear at the Dayton Hamvention. I predict he will speak to standing only crowds. As for me, I am just happy to talk to old friends on the ham bands again. Last night the FCC reversed the dismissal of my application for KV4FZ and granted it. So NP2MJ is now KV4FZ.
